Born and raised right here in Henderson, NC — I’m proud to carry on my family’s legacy of honest, hard work and help build the land we all call home.
The face behind JG Grading & Landscaping.
John Glover is a third-generation contractor from Henderson, NC, continuing a family legacy that’s been moving dirt and building trust for decades. He built JG Grading & Landscaping on the same values he was raised with — honesty, hard work, and faith.
✝️ “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord…”
— Colossians 3:23–24
I was raised in the dirt — literally and figuratively. From growing up on my granddaddy’s farm in Vance County to running my own equipment today, I’ve spent my life learning how to move earth, build things that last, and treat people the right way.
What started with a homemade trailer, an old Toyota pickup, and one skid steer has grown into JG Grading & Landscaping — a full-time, family-rooted business built on honesty, hard work, and faith.
My goal has always been simple: to do what I say I’ll do, treat every customer like family, and leave every property better than I found it.
Hi, I’m John Glover, born and raised in Henderson, North Carolina — proud to serve the same community I’ve called home my whole life. After graduating from Oxford Preparatory High School in 2017, I became a volunteer firefighter and have stayed active in local churches and community events.
What started as a part-time landscaping job during my senior year has grown into a business built on faith, family, and legacy. With a small but dedicated team, we take pride in transforming properties across Henderson, Oxford, Lake Gaston, and beyond — capturing every dramatic before-and-after along the way.
Our roots run deep. My grandfather, Robert “Bobby” Glover, owned and operated Glover’s Grading & Landscaping and Glover Landscape Supply in Henderson for 43 years. From an early age, I learned from him how to run equipment, respect the craft, and value honest work.
Though he retired in 2013, his work ethic and commitment to quality live on in everything we do. I carry a piece of him and his business with me every day — especially through the TL-140 skid steer he once ran himself, which still works right alongside me today.
✅ Third-generation in grading, excavation & site development
✅ Started the business while still in high school (Class of 2017, Oxford Prep)
✅ Faith-driven — Guided by Colossians 3:23-24
✅ Continuing Robert “Bobby” Glover’s 43-year family legacy
✅ Serving Henderson, Oxford, Lake Gaston & surrounding counties
Back in 2017, when things really started getting serious, I brought my granddaddy’s old Takeuchi TL-140 back to life — a machine that had mostly sat since he retired from the business. It probably had around 3,500 hours on it when I started using it again, and before long, I was running it every week.
One day, he looked at me and said,
“Son, if you’re gonna keep running that machine, you’re gonna have to rent it or buy it.”
He wasn’t being hard on me — he was teaching me a lesson. That fall, I signed my first real equipment agreement with him, not with the bank, and made payments to him every month until that machine was mine.
It taught me early on that nothing in life is free, and you appreciate things a whole lot more when you work for them.
I still run that same TL-140 today — it’s more than just a machine to me; it’s a reminder of where this all began and the values that built this business.
That old TL-140 never stopped running — and neither did I. Those first few years were a blur of long days, late nights, and lessons learned the hard way. I kept that same drive going until I could finally buy my first dually truck, and before I even turned 21, I signed for my first brand-new one.
That new truck meant more than just an upgrade — it was the last thing my granddaddy ever co-signed for me. Over the years, he’d backed me on a few trucks and a trailer — not to hand me anything, but to give me a chance to earn it.
He always made sure I understood what real credit and accountability meant, and that stuck with me.
From there, JG Grading & Landscaping started to grow — one job, one machine, and one customer at a time.
Each year brought another piece of equipment, another relationship, another opportunity to keep building on the foundation he helped me start.
Today, I’m proud to say that the same work ethic and lessons my granddaddy taught me still drive everything I do.
I may have started with an old Toyota pickup, a homemade trailer, and one skid steer — but those early years built the foundation for what JG Grading & Landscaping has become.
What started as a dream in high school has grown into a full-time, faith-driven business built on hard work, honesty, and pride in every job. Over the years, we’ve added more trucks, equipment, and capability — but what matters most hasn’t changed.
Every project still gets the same care and attention that I had on day one.
For me, this work has never just been about moving dirt.
It’s about building relationships, earning trust, and leaving every property better than I found it.
I take pride in knowing my customers can count on me to do what I say I’m going to do — and to do it the right way.
I know where I came from, and I know the effort it takes to keep building something that lasts.
Every project, every customer, and every machine on the job site is a reflection of that.
This isn’t just a business — it’s a continuation of a legacy. 🧡
Every project has a story — and I’m proud that mine started right here in the dirt.
